Integrative Energy & Shamanic Work
A steady, supportive approach to restoring balance and wholeness through thoughtfully guided work.
Overview
This work offers a space to slow down, settle, and reconnect with what is already present within you. Sessions are designed to support balance, clarity, and integration through practitioner-led approaches that work with the whole system.
Rather than focusing on fixing or analyzing, this work emphasizes restoration and coherence. Each session unfolds in a calm, grounded environment, allowing the nervous system to settle while deeper patterns are addressed in a supportive and contained way.
You do not need to arrive with a clear plan or understanding of which approach is needed. Many people come simply knowing that something feels “off,” out of alignment, or ready to shift. From there, the work meets you where you are.
This page outlines the different ways that integrative energy and shamanic work may take shape, offering a sense of how sessions are approached and what you can expect, without requiring you to definitively decide anything in advance.
An Integrative Approach
The work offered here is integrative by design. Rather than separating energetic, emotional, or identity-level concerns into distinct categories, sessions are approached with the understanding that these aspects are deeply connected.
There is no single formula applied to every person or session. Instead, the work unfolds based on what is present and what supports steadiness, coherence, and integration in that moment. Some sessions emphasize regulation and grounding; others naturally move into deeper restorative or soul-level work. The approach remains responsive, allowing the work to meet you where you are.
While different modalities are named, they are not experienced as disconnected services. Each session draws from a shared foundation of attentive, practitioner-led work and integration, so you do not need to know in advance what is needed or how the session should unfold.
This integrative framework allows for both depth and gentleness, supporting change that feels grounded, supportive, and sustainable.
Energy Regulation & Coherence
(Reiki · Shamanic Reiki · Chakra Balancing)
This category of work focuses on restoring balance, steadiness, and coherence within the energetic system. It is often supportive during periods of sustained stress, emotional overload, transition, or when life feels unsettled or out of rhythm.
This type of work is often a starting point, though it can also stand alone or be revisited over time as ongoing support.
Reiki & Chakra-Based Work
Reiki works specifically within the chakra system to clear, balance, and support the flow of energy through the body. Sessions are tailored to the client’s current state, with attention given to areas of congestion, depletion, or imbalance within the chakras.
This form of work is stabilizing and regulating in nature. It is often chosen when stress has accumulated, when the system feels overwhelmed, or when a gentle but effective reset is needed. Chakra Balancing may be used as part of a Reiki session when this framework provides a clear and familiar way to support coherence.
Shorter sessions are sometimes used for introductory or maintenance work, while longer sessions allow more time for full-system balancing and integration.
Shamanic Reiki
Shamanic Reiki builds upon chakra-based Reiki and extends beyond it. In addition to energy balancing, it includes active shamanic components when appropriate, such as Power Animal Retrieval (if one has not already been established), energetic intrusion removal, and the clearing of detrimental energy attachments.
A central element of this work is Dr. Garland’s shamanic journeying to one or more of the eight Astral Healing Temples to which she has access. These journeys are undertaken by the practitioner while the client rests comfortably, often listening to drumming. During this time, the client also receives Reiki as the journey proceeds.
Shamanic Reiki allows for deeper regulation and restoration when the energetic system has been impacted by prolonged stress, trauma, or complex life experiences. As with all work in this category, sessions are responsive rather than scripted, with only the elements that are relevant to the moment included.
People often describe leaving these sessions feeling calmer, clearer, more grounded, or more internally aligned. For some, the effects are subtle and cumulative; for others, there is a noticeable shift in how their body feels or how they relate to stress in the days that follow.
This grouping of work is often a starting point, though it can also stand alone or be revisited over time as ongoing support.
Soul-Level & Identity Work
(Soul Retrieval · Past Life Retrieval)
Some experiences leave a deeper imprint than stress alone. Shock, loss, trauma, or long-standing patterns can create a sense of disconnection — from the body, from one’s sense of self, or from a feeling of continuity in life. In these cases, insight and effort may not be enough to create meaningful change.
Soul Retrieval and Past Life Retrieval are shamanic healing approaches that explore these deeper layers. They are not about reliving events, actively engaging with memory or imagery, or constructing stories. During these sessions, the client remains relaxed while Dr. Garland undertakes the retrieval journey and integration work, returning what has been lost or fragmented and allowing the process to unfold without effort or strain.
These sessions are conducted in much the same way as a Shamanic Reiki session, with the client resting comfortably while Dr. Garland undertakes the retrieval journey with a specific, in-depth focus. The work is followed by integration to support stability, coherence, and continuity after the session.
Past Life Retrieval can be explored when patterns, fears, or emotional responses seem to have no clear origin in current life experience. Soul Retrieval is often appropriate when a person feels fragmented, diminished, or “not quite themselves” following trauma or prolonged stress, whether those experiences are recent or long in the past.
Some people arrive specifically seeking this depth of work; others encounter it naturally over time as part of a longer healing process.

How To Choose A Session
You are not expected to know which approach is “right” before we meet.
Many people schedule a session based on what feels most accessible at the time. Once we are together, we decide collaboratively what will be most supportive in that moment, allowing the work to unfold based on what is present and what supports integration.
Nothing is lost by starting where you are
What a Session Is Like
Sessions begin with a brief check-in to orient the work and clarify what is most present for you that day, as well as the focus for the session. At this point, we ensure that the most appropriate session format is used—whether Reiki, Chakra Balancing, Shamanic Reiki, or one of the Shamanic Retrievals. From there, the session shifts into practitioner-led energy work, with you resting comfortably on the Reiki table while the process unfolds.
All sessions involve hands-near-body work, quiet rest, and periods of stillness. In shamanic sessions, Dr. Garland undertakes the healing journey while you remain relaxed, often listening to drumming. You are not asked to visualize, recall memories, or actively engage with imagery.
Sessions are not scripted and do not follow a fixed sequence. The work is guided by what is present and what supports regulation, restoration, and integration at that time. Space is always given afterward to ground and integrate the experience before the session concludes.
You do not need to prepare, perform, or know what to expect beyond arriving as you are.
Who This Work Tends to Support
This work often resonates with people who are already engaged in some form of inner or personal work and are ready for a more integrative, energy-based approach. Many arrive with a sense that insight alone is no longer enough, or that something deeper is ready to shift.
It is especially supportive for those who are seeking integration rather than explanation — people who want to feel more whole, grounded, and aligned, rather than analyze or narrate their experiences.
Some people come periodically to clear the accumulated stress of living, using this work as a way to reset, restore balance, and reconnect with themselves over time.
Others arrive with a clear intention, while some come simply sensing that something is out of alignment or unfinished. Both ways of arriving are welcome here.
