Will Hypnosis Work for Me?
Yes, hypnosis will work for you. Everyone can be hypnotized. All of us at some point have been driving on a boring stretch of road and suddenly realized we are miles from where we last remember being, with no recall of the in-between time. This is called “road hypnosis.” Hypnosis is actually a state that our brains are designed to function in at least for temporary periods.
Will hypnosis cause me to do unusual things?
Of course not. Clinical hypnosis is used to target and perform very specified functions. While a stage hypnotist is using hypnosis in his or her performance, at the Charleston Holistic Center we only utilize clinical hypnosis in our practice. Please be assured that you will only be hypnotized in ways and methods that will assist in your treatment.

What is a Reiki Share?
A Reiki Share is an open forum for anyone who wants to receive Reiki. Reiki shares are free of charge; although donations are accepted. Depending on the number of participants, each “patient” may have four or five Reiki practitioners working on them. The “patient” receives Reiki for about 10-15 minutes. A Reiki share treatment is a nice way to “tune-up” your energy body.
Meditation & Classes
The Buddhist Center (http://thebuddhistcentre.com) describes meditation in the following way: “Meditation is a means of transforming the mind. Buddhist meditation practices are techniques that encourage and develop concentration, clarity, emotional positivity, and a calm seeing of the true nature of things. By engaging with a particular meditation practice you learn the patterns and habits of your mind, and the practice offers a means to cultivate new, more positive ways of being. With regular work and patience these nourishing, focused states of mind can deepen into profoundly peaceful and energised states of mind. Such experiences can have a transformative effect and can lead to a new understanding of life.” Not all meditation practiced at the Charleston Holistic Center are specifically Buddhist meditation. Some meditations are movement meditations, some are guided imagery meditations. However, all have the same goal in mind as discussed above and allow us to reach for a better, more stress-free state of mind, body, and spirit.
Reiki I and Reiki II classes are usually held on Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. A light lunch is included. Students receive a manual, full training, practice time, and their attunement on that day. Students are required to complete practice hours at home or during Reiki Share before receiving their certification. Reiki I is usually offered once per month. Reiki II is usually offered once per quarter. Master Classes are held on an individual basis. Please contact us to sign up for a class.
Meditation classes are offered on a regular basis. Participants learn the many advantages to mediation, several forms of mediation, and have the opportunity to come to open meditation to practice. Please call to find out the beginning date of the next meditation class. 843-225-2024
Massage & Spa
The benefits of regular massage are many and varied. The December 20-22, 2013 USA WEEKEND edition reported that regular massage has the following benefits:
- Relieve chronic low-back pain
- Relieve neck & shoulder pain
- Ease anxiety
- Reduce blood pressure
- Boost immunity
- Reduce depression
How Often Should I Get a Massage?
Regular massage has so many health benefits, that it is important to establish a regular schedule. People in high-stress environments should see a massage therapist frequently. This can be as often as once per week until the results of the stress in the body are eased. Many people find that once per month visits keep their body, health, and spirits well in-tune.
What is the Difference Between a Massage and a Spa Treatment?
A simple massage is just that; the therapist only works on massaging the muscles of the body. Spa treatments usually involve some other therapy and are often treatments that specifically target the skin or hair. A treatment can be as simple as aromatherapy, a scented oil added to the massage oil, or, as complex as a full-body, exfoliating, salt scrub, followed by a detoxing, seaweed body wrap, then a full massage that includes aromatherapy.
